TOBY JONES

Meet Toby. Toby (above left) was born and raised in Oregon, USA and fell in love with the famous West Coast IPA.  He wanted to bring a touch of home to Newport. That is when Anglo-Oregon Brewing Company was born. He is a nautical archaeologist and started working at the Newport Medieval Ship Project, overseeing the conservation and reconstruction of the fifteenth century merchant vessel in 2004.

KRISTIAN HANBURY

Meet Kristian. When not perfecting his latest brew, Kristian can be found exploring hiking trails with his energetic Golden Retriever, Kara, or teaching his two young children the value of craftsmanship and adventure.  Kristian's philosophy is simple: life, like brewing, is about balancing the right ingredients at the right time. Whether he's developing a new seasonal ale or planning the next family camping or skiing trip, his adventurous spirit and dedication to excellence shine through in everything he does.

AMBER ALE - 9.3%

Brewed for survival! Well balanced, this super strong ale is made with huge amounts of Maris Otter Pale Malt and Cascade Hops to produce a rich and warming, full bodied super ale. Historically crafted to withstand the extreme cold of the polar regions, this ale is brewed in commemoration of the courage and daring of these early explorers.

BLACK IPA - 6.8%

A collaboration between AOBC and Wales Ales - A bold and audacious Black IPA that challenges your senses. This 6.8% ABV brew masterfully balances roasted malt complexity with an aggressive hop profile, creating waves of pine, citrus, and dark chocolate notes. The deep obsidian color hints at rich coffee undertones, while the crisp, hoppy finish leaves you craving another sip. Despite its robust character, this surprisingly smooth black IPA maintains perfect harmony between its dark malt backbone and bright hop aromatics.

BLACK IPA - 6.1%

Arnodin's Ale pays tribute to Ferdinand Arnodin, the innovative engineer behind Newport's iconic Transporter Bridge. This commanding 6.1% ABV Black IPA is as bold and distinctive as the historic structure itself. Like the bridge that spans the River Usk, this brew masterfully connects contrasting elements - intense roasted malts meet bright, citrusy hops, while hints of dark chocolate and coffee harmonize with pine notes. Each sip of this engineering marvel delivers a robust yet smooth experience that would make its French namesake proud.
